Coagulation Senior Biomedical Scientist

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership's (ESEL) Haematology Department.

We are looking to appoint an experienced Biomedical Scientist with a positive attitude, strong leadership skills and committed to meeting the needs of our patients by participating in a 24-hour Agenda for Change shift system.

The successful candidate will be primarily based at The Royal London Hospital site (RLH) but may be expected to cover and support other ESEL sites depending on service demand.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Haematology Laboratory, predominantly leading the Coagulation section, and will take direction from supporting Operational Leads in transforming the delivery of services.

Main duties of the job

The department utilises Winpath LIMS and usesSysmex analysers in Haematology and Coagulation across all sites.

The NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership is an arms-length organisation providing pathology services to Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The Pathology Partnership is hosted by Barts Health.

The Pathology Partnership is based on well-established models for pathology networks, with the Royal London Hospital becoming the main hub laboratory for the network and Essential Service Laboratories (ESL) as a minimum at all other Hospital sites.

The 2020/21 total operating costs across the Partnership were c. £126m per annum with a workforce establishment of circa. 822 WTE.   • MSc. Biomedical Sciences/ relevant discipline or IBMS Special Examination (Fellowship)
  • Holder of the IBMS Specialist Diploma or CPSM log book
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council
