The Pharmacy Department at Barts Health covers a population of 2.5 million. We provide medicines management and medicines optimisation services from our four hospital sites across the City of London and East London.

We are looking for a confident, forward-thinking pharmacy technician to work as one of the most senior members of our Pharmacy Dispensary Team at The Royal London Hospital.

We are looking for someone with excellent leadership qualities who can motivate staff and work in conjunction with our fantastic operational team to manage and develop our dispensary service at the Royal London Hospital.

The RLH Pharmacy department is committed to developing its staff and would welcome someone who is passionate about learning and developing and wishes to contribute to the advancement of our well-established team.

You will work closely with the clinical pharmacy teams, nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe and efficient supply of medicines to patients across Royal London and Mile End Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

o The post holder will be the Site Lead Pharmacy Technician (SLPT) for Royal London Hospital (RLH) which would involve the delivery of high quality, safe, efficient and cost-effective pharmacy services to patients.o The postholder will be responsible for managing all the Lead Pharmacy Technicians that work across clinical and operational functions within the Royal London.o The postholder will be responsible for providing operational leadership to the lead pharmacy technicians within the inpatient dispensary to ensure the efficient delivery of medicines to patients.o The postholder will also be responsible for providing leadership to the ward-based medicines management technicians to ensure the delivery of a responsive, proactive, patient-focused clinical pharmacy service to the wards. This will include the promotion of safe, effective, and cost-effective drug use to facilitate patient admission and enhance continuity of care across the primary/secondary interface.o The postholder will provide operational and strategic leadership to the education and workforce development of Pharmacy Technicians and support staff within the RLH Pharmacy team.o The post holder will work closely with the Associate Director of Pharmacy, Deputy Head of Pharmacy (RLH) and Lead Operational and Governance Pharmacist (RLH) to develop and implement best medicines supply and management across the hospital.
