Job summary
St Bartholomew's Hospital is recruiting an experienced nurse leader to join our cardiothoracic surgery team as Matron. This is an exciting time of positive change and expansion, as we celebrate our 900 year anniversary and grow our surgical services.
Applicants should have extensive nurse leadership and operational experience in an acute care speciality, preferably within a cardiac setting. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate clinical credibility, provide visible clinical leadership, inspire others, and demonstrate compassionate leadership in the role.
The post will provide the opportunity to lead and support the cardiothoracic surgical wards in Barts Heart and Thorax Centre along with supporting the non-ward based nursing roles. There will be opportunity to support the pre-assessment pathways and contribute to the site nursing leadership team with a requirement to undertake site wide duties and responsibilities.
Main duties of the job
Provide supportive and clear objectives to the post holders direct line reporters.

Support the delivery at local level of the Trust/Group mission to deliver safe, compassionate, and efficient care, this includes local and site wide quality improvements work streams.
