Are you a dedicated Occupational Therapist with a passion for working with children and young people who have developmental delays and disabilities?

Are you motivated, creative, enthusiastic, and eager to expand your knowledge in occupational therapy and contribute to research? If so, we would love to join us!

The role is to deliver assessments and interventions that promote children's participation in everyday activities, and to contribute to paediatric research. Previous research or paediatric experience is not essential. We have a team of senior therapists and researchers ready to support your growth in this role. You'll have access to excellent supervision and ongoing training opportunities, allowing you to continually enhance your skills and expertise.

Main duties of the job

  • You will provide client-centered occupational therapy advice & input to children with complex developmental disabilities and/or other medical conditions affecting their occupational performance who attend mainstream & special schools in the borough

  • Collaboratively work with parents using a coaching approach to develop their self-efficacy to support their child's participation in everyday life.

  • Assess & arrange for equipment & home-based needs, where appropriate, that support managing the daily care needs of the child.

  • Provide occupational therapy input using the available evidence base.

  • Provide advice & support for other professionals, educational staff, parents and carers involved in addressing the occupational performance issues of children with developmental disabilities in the community setting and/or supporting the parents care of their child.

  • To communicate effectively with families/carers, colleagues, other health care professionals & outside agencies regarding patient care and progress.

  • To participate in service development.

  • To facilitate & support the research programme of the Occupational Therapy Paediatric service. This includes, but is not limited to, contributing to current research studies, delivering National Institution of Health Research (NIHR) portfolio studies, supporting occupational therapy research grant applications, & contributing to establishing a group with patients & the public to drive our research ideas forward.
