Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic midwife to lead our continuity of carer (COC) group practice teams that will be based at the Royal London hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust.

You must be passionate about continuity of carer and personalised care, provide excellent midwifery care for women regardless of their risk status and have strong leadership skills to support the staff working within the teams.

At Barts Health NHS Trust our local community is home to families from a diverse mix of ethnicity, social challenge and health needs, The Royal London Hospital is situated in the heart of East London, and we have easy access to exceptionally good public transport links. We provide Maternity Services to approximately 5000 women a year and accommodate our women in very modern up to date facilitates. We have a level 3 Neonatal unit situated within the hospital as well as excellent facilities in Fetal Medicine

Building on our existing work around choice of place of birth we are in the process of developing teams that operate under the group practice model improving continuity and women's experience as well as outcomes, in line with the maternity transformation agenda and Better Births recommendations.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and developing services that are personalised to the needs of pregnant women and their babies.

The post holder will provide effective leadership within the group practice model of care working in partnership with the community teams and all clinical areas. They will work collaboratively with other multi-disciplinary team members; contribute to the education and professional development of staff in the acute and primary care setting. He/she will be actively involved in providing clinical care and education to women and their families and provide on- going support to midwives and GP's caring for pregnant women. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring there is on-going auditing, monitoring and evaluation of the service provided.
