We are seeking a speech and language therapist to join our Under 5s Speech and Language Therapy team within Barts Health NHS Trust. The successful applicant will work in community clinics, children and family centres, and various venues in Tower Hamlets.
This is an exciting time for our service as it is developing to better meet the needs of the community. You will be involved in universal, targeted, and specialist levels of support. You will be working with parents and children under five years of age (up to the end of Reception) in health and community venues. Our children have a broad range of speech, language, and communication needs, and you will be involved in offering a range of different interventions. You will lead aspects of our services for children with language needs or social communication differences. The service as a whole works within the Care Aims framework and seeks to enable children to communicate more effectively and get the most out of home and school life. The team is a supportive and friendly one where your enthusiasm, empathy, and creativity will be welcomed.
We provide group clinical supervision, individual line management, a programme of in-house training and support, along with ad hoc support from experienced colleagues who will share your office base.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is an autonomous practitioner, providing assessment, diagnosis, prognosis and a variety of intervention programmes at a highly specialist level.
The post holder provides clinical support and supervises junior speech and language therapists and / or bilingual speech and language therapy (SLT) co-workers involved in providing a service to preschool / Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) children with language needs or social communication differences (SCD). S/He coordinates the delivery of the service in liaison with the lead SLTs.
The service is in development to provide a graduated offer of universal, targeted, and specialist support. The post holder will be required to lead on aspects at any of these levels. They may be asked to work in the language stream, the SCD stream, or both.
