A full time Substantive Consultant post has come available at Whipps Cross Hospital.

This post is for interested candidates with subspecialty interest in Perioperative Medicine and Paediatric Anaesthesia and has arisen due to service expansion and expected staffing changes.

The appointee must be able to work flexibly and be able to cover all anaesthetic specialities provided for at Whipps Cross. There will be a requirement to join the out of hours consultant on call rota at Whipps Cross. Further details and sample job plan can be found within the Job Description

We are looking for people who can make a specific contribution to both departments and hospitals.

This is an excellent opportunity for dynamic individuals with the appropriate skills to join a first-class multi-disciplinary team providing the full range of services to the majority of East London and beyond in a progressive London teaching hospital environment.

The post holder will be an employee of Barts Health and there may be future opportunities or requirements to work at one of the other hospitals in the Barts Health group.

Qualifications/Clinical Skills

Essential

  • oCCT in anaesthesia or, if in training within 6 months of CCT
  • GMC Registered with a license to practice
  • oFRCA or equivalent
  • o12 months or more dedicated advanced perioperative medicine training/fellowship
  • oContinuous 6 months - 1 year of dedicated paediatric anaesthesia training - SIA/Advanced module - for DGH paediatric anaesthesia

Desirable

  • oExperience of UK healthcare system
  • oALS and APLS
  • oConsultant level experience in a DGH hospital

Special Knowledge/Abilities and/or Experience

Essential

  • oWide experience in aspects of general anaesthesia, elective and emergency, including acute pain management
  • oAbility to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients

Desirable

  • oEvidence of advanced training in other subspecialties relevant to DGH practice
  • oGeneral Consultant out of hours oncall experience in a DGH

Personal Skills/Qualities

  • oAbility to communicate clearly and intelligently in written and spoken English
