Take the opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge, and experience while making a difference in critical care deliveryThe Royal London Hospital ACCU is a bustling 44-bed unit featuring 22 Intensive Care Unit (ITU) and 22 High Dependency Unit (HDU) beds. Housed within a modern, well-equipped facility, we provide critical care services to a diverse patient population. We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our technologist team.
As a Critical Care Technologist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the nursing and clinical teams within the ACCU, PCCU, and NICU. Your responsibilities will include: - Supervise and perform daily maintenance checks on point-of-care test equipment.- Set up, calibrate, and maintain medical devices used in critical care.- Provide training, appraisals, and support for junior team members.- Act as deputy for the lead technologist during their absence, making independent decisions as necessary.
Creation and maintenance of the team rota.- Collaborate closely with the ACCU lead technologist and other team members to ensure the team meets its obligations.- Work on a rotational basis, including weekends, to provide technical assistance as needed.
Main duties of the job
The post holder has responsibility for organising and providing technical support for the Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU) Paedaitric Critical care( PCCU) and Neonatal Critical care (NICU)
They will act as a clinical expert in their field of practice.They will be responsible for providing unsupervised technical support to all Critical care areas
They will support, teach and train the nursing, medical and allied health professional teams in the clinical setting to ensure high standards of technical support for patients within ACCU, PCCU NICU
They will evaluate advances in medical technology, maintain an accurate equipment inventory and develop and implement education programmes to ensure high level clinical governance.
They will participate in data collection, audit and research in order to raise standards and ensure high quality is provided at all times.
