Managing Director (MD) of Barts Assurance - Band 9

Barts Assurance are the specialist in-house team responsible for delivering Internal Audit, Counter Fraud and related Investigation services to Barts Health NHS Trust, one of the largest Hospital Groups in the country. The team has been established for nearly 40 years, and also offers services to external public sector clients.

Barts Assurance is highly regarded by senior management, and in 2023 were proud to be shortlisted by the IIA in their Public Sector "Outstanding Team" category, whilst in 2022 the team won CIPFA's national Public Finance award for "Excellence in Public Sector Audit".

Main duties of the job

The team sits within the Trust's Finance, Procurement & Estates Department, with the MD of Barts Assurance reporting directly into the Group CFO (Hardev Virdee). In line with professional standards, if necessary, the postholder also has a right of direct access to the Trust's Audit & Risk Committee Chair.

Supporting the Trust's ambitions the Finance Department's vision is"To be a world-class performing team renowned for inclusion, diversity, excellence and innovation". With the retirement of our current MD, we are now looking for an experienced senior assurance professional who is keen to make a real impact and lead Barts Assurance to the next level.
