Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen on our Children's Gastroenterology Ward for a motivated, committed and enthusiastic individual to join our team.

Ward 7C is a gastro ward within a versatile and dynamic service, providing high quality holistic care with an emphasis on working in partnership with the children and their families. We care for a range of children with gastro problems including short gut syndrome, those with stomas and those requiring parenteral nutrition (PN). Included in the multidisciplinary team are specialist dietician and clinical nurse specialists who all work together to provide the best care possible for all the patients.

We are looking for individuals who are keen to learn and develop new skills, are adaptable and show excellent communication skills. This post includes assisting qualified nursing staff in the planning, prioritising and auctioning of nursing care but also the contribution to maintaining a safe and secure ward environment.

Barts Health has a busy and demanding children's service requiring staff to be flexible in their working. The post holder will be required to work within a challenging clinical environment and will be expected to undertake shift work which will include weekends and night shifts. In exchange, you will be supported and have access to a range of courses and development opportunities to progress your clinical knowledge.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as an effective team member and carry out a range of specific activities in support of registered nurses, involving the direct nursing care of patients. They will assist in providing effective family centred nursing care to patients and their families and take responsibility for updating own knowledge and skill in line with Trust policies and procedures.
