Senior Exercise Physiologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at one of the UK's largest NHS Trusts. We are looking for a Band 6 exercise physiologist who is ready for new challenges or an experienced Band 5 who is seeking promotional opportunities to join our pehabilitation team.
We are pleased to be expanding our well-established team to continue providing a trust wide prehabilitation service. The successful post holder will hold a key role in the on-going development and running of a multidisciplinary prehabilitation service. The post-holder will support the team leads to deliver a trust-wide service that will not only reduce complications from hospital treatment but aim to improve patients' long-term health as they adopt lifestyle changes. The post-holder will also work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary teams including attending a novel hepato-pancreato-biliary cancer clinic with surgeons, clinical nurse specialists and anaesthetists.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate should be a dedicated, skilled and motivated clinician with a breadth of experience in exercise prescription across a range of chronic health conditions. - BSc in Physiology/Sports Science or equivalent
- Member of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REP), or other associated body (BASES,BACR).
- Cancer rehabilitation qualification.
- Intermediate Life Support Skills.
Desirable
- Training in motivational interviewing and/or health coaching
- Member of special interest groups.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of delivering high-quality, evidence based exercise intervention to a co-morbid patient
- Ability to discuss basic nutritional advice and deliver basic psychological support techniques / advice
- Experience using Motivational Interviewing in people with long term conditions
Desirable
- Experience in analysing data and utilising scientific writing skills to disseminate results e.g. poster writing for conferences
- Previous experience working at a band 6 or equivalent level
- Previous experience working in a Prehabilitation setting.
- Experience of supporting clinical education of students
Knowledge
Essential
- Up to date knowledge of published prehabilitation literature / guidelines to support assessment of different patient groups and delivery of exercise intervention
- High level knowledge of existing exercises testing and prescription guidelines
- Demonstrable and competent knowledge of exercise physiology and impact of varied clinical pathologies
- Understanding of different anti-cancer treatments and the side-effects that may impact intervention
- Recognises boundaries of own responsibilities
