Job summary

We are delighted to be offering the opportunity to join our surgical care practitioner team as a trainee practitioner. This position would ideally suit an enthusiastic & dynamic healthcare professional from a nursing, ODP or allied health professional background. Applicants should have extensive experience at Band 6 level, ideally within a peri-operative environment.

We are a dynamic & ambitious team, proud to be delivering high quality care for patients. Support will be provided from an experienced multi-professional surgical team, allowing development of advanced surgical skills & professional competencies required for the role. The successful applicant will be required to complete an accredited SCP course delivered externally at Master's level as part of the training programme. Applicants should ensure they meet the academic requirements for UK Masters study & have previously studied at Level 6 or 7 in the UK.

Main duties of the job

We're a dedicated, supportive, and ambitious team offering excellent training and development opportunities, including a growing nursing and AHP research and clinical academic career programme with internships. MSc, PhD's and post-doctoral opportunities.

To act as first or second assistant under the surgeon direction of the consultant in cardiac surgical and thoracic procedures.

Following training, meet the competencies required to undertake surgical activities to ensure that high quality of patient care is maintained, and outcomes are met.

Contribute to surgical activity in areas outside of the theatre environment, including wound clinics and wards.

Provide visible leadership and act as a role model at all times, demonstrating the Trust values.
