Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Colorectal consultant on a six-month fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and well-established team consisting of eight consultants at Royal London Hospital, Bart's Health NHS Trust.
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing general in-patient and outpatient adult care, including out-of- hours on-call commitment.
The post includes 10 PA of activity/40 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
General duties and objectives of a Barts Health Consultant include:
- To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient service
- To share responsibility with all consultant colleagues for providing evidence-based standards of care for all inpatients and outpatients
- To have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out in the Patients' Charter, Trust Values and the local purchasers' contracts and deliver evidence based care
- To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with General Practitioners, community services and all healthcare agencies
- To maintain and promote team and multi-disciplinary work with the specialties working closely and regularly with Department
- To encourage and foster the audit process at clinical, managerial and medical levels and to take part in regional audit in support of evidence-based medicine.
- To give advice, support and training to junior medical staff
- To participate in the management of the Department and to liaise closely with the General Manager and the Clinical Lead
- To take part in continuing medical education activities, in line with the Royal College of Surgeons' guidelines and in consultation with the Medical Director
- The post holder may be required to carry out other duties in emergencies and unforeseen circumstances
