Job summary

The purpose of the role is to contribute to the Trust wide development of high-quality education for Bart's Health. Supporting the Nursing and Midwifery Education Team in the delivery of high-quality patient care by providing and facilitating excellent training and development opportunities for the: post registration nursing and midwifery workforce and other Health Care Professions when required.

Main duties of the job

Work clinically, for a minimum of 0.8 WTE, supporting student nurse training to become registered nursing nurses.

Assess quality of a range of clinical and other practice learning environments, determines interventions to sustain and enhance practice education.

Supports and facilitates the development of clinical practice/educators/assessors/supervisors to provide supervision and support structures.

Develop coordinate, evaluate, and implement education programmes within Barts Health NHS Trust.

Develop and deliver education and training to meet the needs of training nursing associates and their practice supervisors/assessors in classroom settings and within practice learning environments.

Lead recruitment event of final placement student in collaboration with site education leads, site leadership, workforce development and human resources team.

Monitor attrition at each stage of student progression whilst on training and put in place actions to mitigate risk of attrition and feed forward to HEIs.

Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support learning including mapping align with the course planner and NMC requirements.

Qualifications

Essential

  • First level Registered Nurse (degree or equivalent)
  • Mentorship mentor or any teaching qualification equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable

  • Level 7 master's degree/ or evidence of study at master's level/or willingness to study at this level.
  • Undertaken formal management / leadership training.
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education

Experience

Essential

  • At least 2 years post registration working within the NHS at Band 6 in an acute care settings with regular interactions with learners.
  • Experience facilitating and delivering training sessions.
  • Experience assessing learning in practice.
  • Experience of capability management.
  • Proven track record in line managing people with clearly defined leadership skills.
  • Ability to establish partnerships and foster good working relationships.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of initiating, evaluating and sustaining change.
