The Theatre case mix is challenging and specialties include: Upper and Lower GI, General Surgery, Urology, Maxillofacial, Head and Neck, ENT, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Elective and Trauma Orthopaedics, Emergency Theatres, Day Surgery and Paediatrics.
The Theatre teams are passionate about getting it right for patients and their families, to achieve this we are looking to appoint enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic individuals. Once appointed we will build upon your experience and support you in your new role.
We recognise that you will be wanting to progress your career and in order to prepare for a Senior Theatre Role, we will provide you with a bespoke training and education package that will broaden and "add value" to your clinical experience and facilitate you to develop "cutting edge" leadership skills.
The development programme will be delivered over an 18-month period, during which you will be allocated a senior mentor. There are opportunities to attend the Perioperative "Leading for the Future" Programme which is a leadership course delivered via a series of practical training days. We will also aim to support you to undertake The Theatre Course.
Successful candidates will be supported by the friendly professional development team and team Band 7/ 6. You will also receive a supernumerary period.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the effective and efficient operational supervision of the department, including a budgetary awareness, clinical governance, staff development and training. The post holder will be expected to provide professional leadership within the clinical area and provide direction and inspirational leadership to all members of the multi-disciplinary team within the area for which they are accountable for. The post holder will be involved in the development of protocols / guidelines and patient information.
