Job summary
The adult type 1 diabetes service at Newham University Hospital cares for around 700 service users and brings the latest, cutting-edge modern management of type 1 diabetes to a distinctive patient population characterised by ethnic diversity and socioeconomic deprivation. With a rapidly evolving advanced technology service and strong connections to industry, research and third sector organisations, the type 1 diabetes team at Newham now seek to appoint a lead nurse to promote their ethos of patient-centred, holistic care.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will become part of an experienced and friendly team including doctors, diabetes specialist nurses, diabetes specialist dieticians, diabetes psychology/psychiatry and insulin pump administrator. Their role will include:
- Providing clinical and professional leadership in the running of the department, including managing x3 Band 7 DSNs and participating in diabetes technology, young adult/transition and type 1 diabetes in pregnancy services.
- Developing and delivering education and training to the multidisciplinary team, patients, their families and carers.
- Driving the creation of guidelines and policies to help continuously improve the quality of our services and to safeguard high standards of car
