We are looking to increase our Education fellows to support Education for Undergraduates that are based within the Whipps Cross, Newham University Hospital , St Barts and Royal London Site. We are looking for a trainee with an interest in Medical Education, particularly Undergraduate Education. We have 6 available which will be based at The Royal London Hospital, Newham, Whipps Cross and St Bartholomew's site. Although the post holder will be based at an allocated site, they would, in-line with all our team, be expected to work across site as requested.
Bart's Health comprises of Whipps Cross University Hospital, Newham University Hospital, Mile End Hospital, St Bartholomew's Hospital and The Royal London. Within the structure of the new trust there is an Education Academy. Barts Health has four dedicated Medical Education, Simulation and Clinical Skills facilities. We take medical students from Queen Mary University, as well as overseas students. Teaching methods include problem-based learning, lectures, teaching clinics, part task training, full immersion simulation training and bedside teaching
Main duties of the job
The post is for one year and the core remit will be to support different modalities in Education for the undergraduate trainees that are based at the respective site within the Medical Education/ Simulation Department. The successful applicant will also be expected to assist with a small element of Clinical Skills delivery within QMUL and support Simulation initiatives for other disciplines across Barts Health. A training programme is in place to develop the skills required to facilitate these courses and these posts are managed within the Simulation team.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract. The successful applicant will get support and development in this role from the Education Team. The post would typically suit anyone just about to start specialist training or those wishing to undertake further training in medical education as part of an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) from their training programme. Prior agreement must be sought with the relevant Specialty Training Committee (STC). The post will be 100% education commitment. Undertaking 1 day a week clinical within their preferred speciality will be considered after 8 months. This is an unbanded post on a MN37 payscale
The post holder would be responsible for their own personal development plan, with regards to both service and educational work. Regular appraisal must be undertaken with their clinical supervisor, and Director of Medical Education/Specialty Tutor/ Simulation Lead.
