Job summary
Duties cover a range of building M&E work including planned and breakdown maintenance, servicing, specialist testing, fault finding and repair of equipment and installation work.
Key Responsibilities of the post will include undertaking a range of repairs and core electrical and general engineering maintenance duties and associated works for the Trust. To maintain engineering services and equipment at the hospital whilst at all times observing all relevant Health and Safety guidelines and Regulations.
The basic working week is 37.5 hours, Monday-Friday 08:30 to 16:30. You must however, have the ability and willingness to work flexible hours including overtime and call outs as workload demands, for which additional payment is made. The position is also eligible for the NHS pension scheme along with access to a wide range of staff benefits, and in addition to public bank holidays annual leave of 27 days on appointment rising to 29 days after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be employed on a wide range of fault-finding and maintenance duties. She/he will be responsible for maintaining all Building Fabric, Mechanical & Electrical building services and equipment within the Trust properties.
To ensure all Health and Safety Control and Asbestos, COSHH and permit to work systems are adhered to at all times. Reporting any non-safe practices or faulty equipment which could affect their own safety and that of any employee throughout the Trust, or Trust property.
To follow departmental and the Trust's operating policies and procedures when undertaking this role.
Required to work on his/her own initiative unsupervised within the standard operating procedures and prioritise the work schedule.
To maintain good working relationships and communicate effectively, especially on the routine technical information with the recipients who may not be specialists in the technical field.
The post holder shall hold CP accreditations and perform Competent Person (CP) duties for which they are suitably experienced, trained or qualified and appointed
To participate in the Estates On Call rotas covering various Trust sites as directed.
