An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Specialist AAU Dietitian to join our friendly and enthusiastic Adult Dietetics Department at Newham University Hospital.
The position offers an exciting opportunity for an organised and ambitious Dietitian to work in a specialist unit, covering a variety of specialities.
As an AAU specialist you will be able to work autonomously to provide nutrition support to this varied cohort of patients while having the opportunity to support and develop more junior dietitians.
The successful candidate should be very motivated and hard-working with previous experience of managing a very busy caseload. There is scope to develop the services and the successful candidate is expected to engage and lead in service development. Excellent communication skills and multidisciplinary working is required.

Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for providing a specialist nutritional care and counselling to patients on the Acute Assessment (AAU) at Newham University Hospital .
- To support the staff of the AAU in order to enable early identification and referral of patients who need expert dietetic support
- To support the junior dietitians in providing a service to inpatients at Newham University Hospital
- To liaise with community colleagues with regards to safe discharge and prevention of admission to hospital where appropriate
- To ensure that research and audit is undertaken on a regular basis to ensure that practice is evidence based.
- To act as an expert resource on the nutritional management of inpatients and educate and train dietetic students and other health care professionals within the trust
