Job summary
Barts Health ICT is looking for an experienced Database Administrator, to lead on the Trust's large SQL database applications and work as part of the ICT Server Team.
As a Database Administrator, you will be working within the ICT Server Team to support and lead on maintaining, configuring and developing the Trust's database infrastructure. You will need to ensure the availability, performance, integrity and the security of all databases within the organisation are meeting all requirements.
To be successful in this role you will have experience of Database Administration in SQL server including performance tuning, maintenance, troubleshooting and design. You will also need to have experience of virtualisation technologies and their configurations.
Main duties of the job
- Review, develop, deliver and promote efficiency and stability across the Rational Database Management environment and ensure databases are protected and secured.
- Act as a subject matter expert/technical lead for designing and implementation of the RDBM environment, ensuring the environments (live, test) is optimal at all times by monitoring and tuning the database environment, to ensure system integrity and performance.
- Develop and apply specialist knowledge in database environments, acting as anSME ensuring all environments are maintained with the agreed service levelsensuring availability, capacity, resilience and security.
- Analyse, troubleshoot, respond to and resolve database problems and complex issues to ensure system availability and that application and system outages, downtimes and slowdowns are resolved as quickly as possible to provide the service back to staff.
- Establish policies and procedures pertaining to the management, security, maintenance and use of the database management system.
- Lead on the technical aspects of RDMS projects to ensure delivery within time, budget and quality, including raising any risks/issues with proposed mitigations.
- Responsible for performing software installation and configuration tasks including
- liaison with third party support where necessary to complete the work successfully.
