Job summary

The aim of this post is to facilitate and support the B7 Nurse Education Practitioners to ensure the provision of quality practice learning experiences for undergraduate adult nursing students, Trainee Nurse Associates and support the development of access to nursing programmes through Apprenticeship pathways. [all denoted as learners within main duties] This is being part of the career pathways across Bart's Health. The post holder will develop clinical environments that encourage and assure learning that is fit for purpose in partnership with Key Practice Assessors, Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors and Senior Clinical staff. The post holder will work within nursing across the organisation 70% of the time working alongside students in clinical practice. Also delivering learning in Healthcare to meet the changing needs and new ways of delivering education in practice . This is inclusive of virtual learning and e -learning.

The post holder will also work as a part of the Barts Health Nursing and midwifery Education Team in close liaison with Nurse Education facilitators [NEF] and Nurse Education Practioner [NEP] across the Trust to provide the education and training to support workforce and service development.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop, and co-ordinate the capacity and resources required to provide high quality practice learning experiences for adult nursing students, Trainee nurse associates and Apprentices across Bart's Health.
  • Support and deliver training to support the short and long term strategies and goals required to ensure a competent and skilled workforce fit for purpose at the point of registration and beyond and to support workforce development and service delivery.
  • Support and deliver training to Key Practice Assessors (KPAs) and participate in KPA Forums.
  • Support and deliver education programmes of Transition programmes for third year student nurses, student nurse forums and training seminars.
  • Work in partnership with NEPs and Senior Nurses and HEIs to evaluate and benchmark clinical practice educational environments
  • Maintain and report on the Adult practice placement supervisors, Practice assessors and Practice supervisors register for Bart's Health ensuring that it is maintained and meets the NMC 2008 and 2018 Standards for student supervision and assessment (NMC SSSA standards requirements and that there are adequate numbers of up-to-date Practice Assessor or Practice Supervisor for each placement area.
  • Support and deliver preparation of the learner and staffs for NMC 2018 standards of proficiency for registered nurses.
  • To identify new starters, promote the training of existing nurses to become practitioners to support and assess learners and supervisors.
