Our Ophthalmology Department provides tertiary services to the population of North East London and works collaboratively with other ophthalmology teams at the other major hospitals in London
Main duties of the job
We are currently seeking a motivated consultant to take up the position of Consultant Ophthalmologist; with sub-specialty interest in Medical Retina.
This is an important post within the department, and we are hoping to recruit an innovative and committed colleague who is keen to work with the wider team to develop the service at The Royal London Hospital.
The post-holder forms part of a team of 10 Consultants supported by Clinical Fellows (Medical Retina, Glaucoma, Oculoplastic, Paediatrics), Specialist Trainees and Trust doctors.The clinical team is also supported by; 8 Optometrists, 6 Orthoptists, Ophthalmology Matron, Senior Sister and nursing team.
The service is also supported by an experienced Service Manager and Service Delivery Manager, Senior PCC and you will have a nominated secretary
o To support the running of the Medical Retina service at the Royal London Hospital.
o To be involved in the strategic planning and development of Medical retina at RLH
o To have responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and for the proper functioning of their departments. You will participate in the three tier RLH on-call rota (1 in 7)
o To assume responsibility both singularly and corporately for the management of the junior medical staff
