Job summary
Two full time consultants in Adult Critical Care Medicine joining our outstanding, busy, friendly, and collaborative department at the Royal London Hospital from February 2024. These jobs are part of a realised expansion of critical care capacity at the Royal London Hospital though successful candidates will join the departments support for Trust wide flexibility in the delivery of critical care.
Although a full time post in Critical Care Medicine, candidates with additional specialty interest are encouraged to apply as there is scope to work in other areas too (e.g. Anaesthesia, Acute Medicine and other medical specialties). Individual circumstances can be discussed at an informal visit.
Main duties of the job
General duties1. Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his / her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.2. Leadership, development and organisation of the services in his / her charge in line with the Trusts' business plans and those of the Surgery Division.3. Development of his / her own interests within the specialty which for example, may include research, quality improvement and education.4. Corporate and individual responsibility for the professional management of junior doctors, both trainees and trust appointments.
Duties of the post1. To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient critical care service.2. To participate in the annualised Royal London Hospital ACCU consultant rota, which incorporates prospective cover.3. To provide evidence-based care for all patients.4. To always have regard for the clinical and quality standards set out in the charter of patient rights and responsibilities.5. To participate fully in the management of the department, including the job planning and appraisal process, and to liaise closely with the Clinical Lead and Director of Adult Critical Care.6.
