Job summary
As a Band 2 Pharmacy Assistant who holds a NVQ Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy services, you will have the opportunity to be enrolled on the following courses:
- HEE Medicine Optimisation Course to undertake Transcription of Medicines and POD checking at Ward level.
Giving you the key skills to develop your career within Pharmacy and work towards becoming a Senior Pharmacy Assistant Band 3 or go on to become a Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician. Barts Health, being the largest acute Trust in UK, is committed to training Pre-registration Pharmacy technicians every year, providing opportunities for successful candidates to develop within the Pharmacy Technician career pathway. (Ensuring that relevant criteria are met for the Pre Reg-Trainee Pharmacy Technician role)
Duties/Areas of this post include:
- Dispensary
- Stores and Distribution including top up services
- Medicines Management including ROADMAP services
- Mentor for Trainee Pharmacy Assistants
Applicants for the band 2 pharmacy assistant post must hold a NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services. Previous experience of working in Hospital or Community Pharmacy is essential.
Applicants, who do not hold a NVQ Level 2 are welcome to apply as training will be given, to obtain the NVQ level 2 qualification.
Main duties of the job
This post provides the post holder with the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and experience in day-to-day delivery of pharmacy service to patients, in conjunction with the patient services and clinical pharmacy teams.
The post holder will be responsible for dispensing inpatient and discharge medicines, stock management and some clinical pharmacy services.
