We are delighted to announce an exciting 6-month secondment/fixed term post for the position of Retrieval Practitioner within the newly formed Adult Critical Care Emergency Support Service (ACCESS).
ACCESS is an adult critical care transfer service focused on safe, consistent, compassionate, & expert-led transfer of critically ill patients across the capital. We work with London Ambulance Service NHS Trust (LAS), the London integrated commissioning boards & associated critical care networks to provide a transfer service for critically ill patients throughout London between 0800-2200, 365 days a year, with a future goal of transitioning to a 24-hour service.
Transfer teams are currently operational within the four geographical sectors of London, operating under the oversight of Bart's Health, as the host trust. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in any of the four geographical sectors, based on their individual requirements, objectives, and preferences. The ACCESS Team include one transfer doctor, one transfer practitioner, and two LAS crew, all led by two Duty Consultants who provide close support and expertise each day.
Main duties of the job
As the ACCESS retrieval practitioner you will be responsible for championing the safe and efficient transfer of critically unwell patients across the capital. You will play a pivotal role in collaborating with the wider team to optimise standard critical care transfer practice, enhance educational development, streamline transfer operations and implement effective governance within a unified service.
Joining the largest of its kind in England, you will be part of Pan-London Specialist Teams dedicated to providing highly specialised cardiac, trauma, neurosurgical, and burns care. Furthermore, you will actively contribute to the seamless repatriation of patients back to their respective local intensive care units across the country. This important responsibility requires a coordinated and professional approach to ensure the safe and efficient transfer of patients to their designated hospital
