Job summary

A rare and very interesting opportunity has arisen to join the Commercial and Business Development Team at Barts Healthcare NHS Trust as an Intellectual Property Commercialisation Manager to support the Trust in the development of its intellectual property.

Working in close collaboration with the Commercial, Research and Life Sciences teams, senior consultants, researchers and other senior managers and directors within the Trust you will develop further our pipeline of intellectual property leveraging the unique strengths of Barts Health NHS Trust as one of the UK's leading international care organisations.

You will work with external organisations including other NHS Trusts, Charities, Universities and potential commercial partners to negotiate agreements for the development of the Trust's IP. You will work on joint IP matters with The Barts Charity, and Queen Mary University of London.

Main duties of the job

You will actively seek partnerships with the commercial sector, universities, and government sectors and draft and negotiate relevant partnership enabling agreements.

You should be experienced in all matters relating to IP including the assessment of opportunities, in drafting licencing or IP sale agreements and in conducting commercial IP contract negotiations. You should have evidence of successful contract research or consultancy business won, or successful conclusion of IP licensing or other IP commercialisation deals.

You will have direct experience of developing IP innovations in liaison with inventors in a healthcare setting and of managing an IP portfolio, preferably in a healthcare, life science, NHS or university setting.

  • oSignificant experience of managing an IP portfolio, preferably in a healthcare, life science, NHS or university setting.
  • oSignificant experience of business development and a strong understanding of business development methodology.
  • oExperience of drafting licencing or IP sale agreements.
  • oSignificant demonstrational experience in conducting commercial IP contract negotiations.
  • oEvidence of successful contract research or consultancy business won, or successful conclusion of IP licensing or other IP commercialisation deals.
