Job summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and experienced Radiographer to provide clinical leadership to the CT service at Mile End Hospital within Barts Health NHS Trust. This is a new post where the successful applicant will lead the implementation of the community diagnostic hub and targeted lung checks CT scanners, working closely with the Royal London Imaging Team.

The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to providing and developing a high-quality CT service. The ability to work closely with the other Lead CT Radiographers in the Trust and being able to deputise for the Site Lead Radiographers in their absence is key, therefore applicants must be flexible in their approach to work. The successful applicant should also have a desire to teach others, good organisational and liaison skills, and an ability to prioritise their workload.

This is a great opportunity for a suitably experienced Radiographer to enhance their current skills by developing their leadership potential.

There is currently a plan for two CT scanners to be based at Mile End site. The CT summit scanner shared with Cardiac services and the Targeted lung health check screening programme.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the management of the day-to-day provision of CT services at MEH ensuring the suites are run in an efficient and effective manner and that patients are given appointments commensurate with the clinical needs.

The post holder will provide high profile Clinical Specialist support to the CT Radiographers and to the department. The post holder will liaise with Lead Radiographers across MEH and Royal London sites with respect to staffing and other resource issues and is responsible for the management of dedicated CT staff at Mile End.

This service is key to operational priorities within the Directorate and as such, the post holder will be expected to interact with senior members of the hospital staff reporting and advising on service demands and delivery. The post holder will be expected to articulate knowledgeably and effectively on complex technical issues to all service users.

To lead the radiographic staffing at MEH and further develop an efficient CT service. There are currently two CT scanners, the CT summit scanner shared with cardiac and the targeted lung health check CT trailer.

To develop and maintain the CT service, standardising protocols, managing the patient bookings and waiting lists by liaising closely with the operational leads and administration team.

To provide an effective operational lead radiographer role for the CT service at MEH.

Provide professional leadership advice in relation to CT at MEH.
