Job summary

North London Cardiac Operational Delivery Network - Project Manager - Band 7

An exciting maternity cover opportunities are available in the North London Cardiac ODN, on a 12-month fixed-term contract to deliver significant change across Cardiology services.

The post holder will be responsible for managing various workstreams and projects within the ODN, working with clinicians and managers across multiple providers and partners to ensure provision of the best possible patient experience and service delivery.

The post holder will take a lead on projects, responsible for planning, day-to-day delivery, and subsequent performance management. Adjusting plans as necessary to ensure that risks and issues are managed, and benefits are delivered.

The post holder will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective management of interdependencies and effective delivery of objectives.

It is expected that the projects managed by the post holder will change over time as the as the portfolio of work changes.

It is essential that the post holder has experience of:

Successful strategic management in a complex organisation

Experience of delivering projects and/or service improvement in an operational environment

Ability to work effectively across boundaries and drive change

Main duties of the job

The North London Cardiovascular Networks bring together partners from across North London and neighbouring east of England to drive clinically-led improvements in outcomes and quality of care across patient pathways, in patient experience, and in value for money. The networks support organisations, clinicians and patients by providing access to specialist resources and expertise, including objective analysis and advice on strategic change and co-commissioning. This clinical leadership enables partnership working to achieve benefits, in particular reconfiguration of pathways through prioritisation of interventions which will result in significant savings, contributing to the delivery of high quality, cost effective patient care.

The elements within the Networks include the Cardiac Operational Delivery Network, NHS primary, secondary and tertiary providers, ICS and CCGs of north west, north central and north east London, patient and public voice, third sector. The work programmes are harmonious and interrelated, creating a streamlined, yet holistic, solution to strategic and operational improvements in cardiovascular services in north London, with reach into east of London. Project Management

  • Support the production of project plans that deliver agreed milestones and objectives.
  • Support the development of business cases, including feasibility studies, outline business cases (OBC), and detailed scheme designs.
  • Provide project management expertise to the individuals in the project team and ensure that the leads have clear responsibilities, priorities, timescales and track delivery.
  • Organise project meetings, ensuring that regular meetings are established, reports are produced and disseminated in a timely way and actions are followed up.
  • Lead service level workshops with admin, management and clinical teams. Produce presentation material and follow up information to introduce change projects and delivery plans.
  • Communicate information on the delivery progress of the project(s) to key stakeholders as required.
  • Provide scheduled highlight and exception reports per project, tracking milestones, for circulation to more senior project leads
  • Identify risks and support actions to mitigate these in order to ensure successful delivery to time, cost and quality.
  • Use appropriate project management practices in order to deliver the project.
  • Organise and monitor project resources to ensure their effective use while delivering against agreed objectives.
  • Co-ordinate minutes, agendas and papers for distribution in preparation for meetings, ensuring this is done in a timely manner.
