Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic doctor to join the current Obstetrics and Gynaecology team as a clinical fellow at Barts Health NHS Trust for 1 year.
The post will be based at The Whipps Cross University Hospital. This is a non-training post although will provide valuable experience for those wishing to secure future posts, including at consultant level for applicants who already hold CCT.
Almost all the sub-specialities in Obstetrics and Gynaecology are provided for at our centre.
Individuals will require full GMC Registration and should be post MRCOG membership. These posts are aimed at UK or Overseas trainee obstetricians at ST 6+ or above, and for EU trained individuals with the appropriate level of clinical experience. The successful applicant should have achieved basic ultrasound skills and laparoscopy skills consistent with senior registrar level (ST6 or above) and will be joining a 16-person middle grade rota.

Main duties of the job
The Post holder will provide support for the day to day running of the Emergency Gynaecology Unit (EGU), including early pregnancy and gynaecology ultrasound lists, Ectopic follow-up clinics, Manual Vacuum Aspirations (MVA) and treatment of Bartholin's Abscess with Word catheter. Additionally, they will work with the endometriosis team in inpatient/day case theatres, outpatient clinics and the Gynaecology ward. They will be a key member of the team responsible for the treatment and care of women with endometriosis, providing both clinical care and support for audit and research within the department. There will be alternate week cover on the delivery suite in order to maintain and develop competence in obstetric skills. There will be an on-call component and the post holder should be able to act at senior registrar level within both obstetrics and general gynaecology, providing support to junior team members as required.
The Postholder will work within 48-hour EWTD compliant rota.
