Salary: According to national pay scales, (Banding supplement applies). As this is a CT1/CT2 level Trust Grade post, NHS pay banding will reflect this level of experience.
We currently require a number of enthusiastic doctors (CT1/CT2 level SHOs) to join our departments to start in the rotations October 2023 intake.
This is a unique opportunity to join the largest trust in the country and participate in an excellent 2 year trust SHO rotation in trauma and orthopaedics. The Trust will fund successful candidates (for the SHO rotation) to complete a distance learning MSc in Trauma Sciences degree at QMUL.Successful candidates will be required to apply as soon as possible for places on the MSc Course. If successful at interview for the SHO rotation the Trust will pay the university degree fees in exchange for 24 months service. Fees are returnable if candidates leave prior to fulfilling 24 months contract.
Main duties of the job
The surgical rotation posts include positions in several departments across the Emergency Care and Trauma and Surgery Divisions (final speciality slots will be confirmed prior to starting at the trust and are allocated on a 6 monthly basis), which offers the opportunity to work across all the Barts Health sites providing excellent variety and opportunities for learning. The post will provide ideal opportunities to enhance the portfolio of the successful candidate and assist in the career progression of SHOs pursuing a career in Trauma and Orthopaedics, as well as the chance to connect and work with consultants across all the Barts Health sites. Furthermore it will provide well-organised candidates the opportunity to gain valuable clinic and operating theatre experience within a supportive training environment. The aim of the rotation is to provide the successful SHOs an opportunity to fulfil an equivalent training in preparation for Trauma and Orthopaedic ST3 interviews.
The rotation posts are not recognised for post-graduate training but will provide the same educational opportunities, and successful candidates are expected to fully participate in the postgraduate training program to continue their personal and professional development. Previous candidates have been successful at securing national training numbers (ST3) at national selection interviews.
