Clinical Fellow in Anaesthetist
Based at Royal London Hospital
This 6 to 12 month post is a senior fellowship for anaesthetists with at least five years of anaesthetic training.
An additional tier of senior clinical fellows is being recruited to manage the increase in acuity and out of hours work at the Royal London Hospital (RLH). Out of hours this is focused on supporting the increasing numbers and complexity of cases on labour ward and the increase in Mechanical Thrombectomy provision at RLH. The fellows will also be facilitating the surgical strategy, moving high acuity surgery to RLH. During the daytime they will undertake some solo mentored lists with the rest of the time dedicated to career development see below.
Main duties of the job
The post also offers the opportunity for a senior clinical fellow to obtain advanced competencies in one of a number of surgical specialties undertaken at RLH eg neuro, complex obstetrics, perioperative medicine and high risk preassessment, regional anaesthesia, trauma anaesthesia major abdominal surgery or to develop their CV by undertaking QI projects or research; or get targeted support for exam preparation or work towards CESR. Each successful candidate will have a dedicated educational supervisor to support their career goals.
Out of hours they will work with a team of an anaesthetic core trainee, a obstetric anaesthetic registrar, a paediatric anaesthetic registrar and a senior anaesthetic registrar.
The Department of anaesthesia provides a service for all surgical specialities within Bart's Health and is involved in many exciting initiatives.
