Overview

The Education Academy within Barts Health is expanding in response to the need with increasing numbers of students and trainees and commitment to offer the best educational experience for our trainees. There is a real need to ensure that students receive excellent tuition and that trainees have the best possible educational supervision. In line with our Education Strategy, we intend to improve education by building an Education Fellow faculty base made up of Specialty Teaching Fellows who contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate training, and support Inter-professional Innovations.

The post holder will have the opportunity to work across sites with other education fellows. From August 2017 all fellows joining our team will be invited to join our Education Forum where fellows have access to a structured development programme. All our fellows are encouraged to undertake a PG Cert in Education and funding will be available to support this.

Main duties of the job

The post: The post would be based at the Newham University Hospital and is part of Barts NHS Trust.

The contract is 12 month, fixed-term and is full time, 0.4 WTE within Education and 0.6 WTE clinical work relevant speciality. The educational time will be divided between the Graduate Programme Education Delivery and supporting other specialities and disciplines within other areas of Education such as simulation and clinical skills .

This would typically suit anyone wishing to undertake further training in a medical specialty and education prior to or as part of an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) from their training programme. For the latter prior agreement must be sought with the relevant Specialty Training Committee (STC) and Deanery

You will be expected to have at least two years of accredited Foundation Programme Training, be on track to pass your ARCP and have previous experience in delivering education.

The post will have opportunities to be involved in other teaching programmes including Foundation Trainees and interdisciplinary simulation training.
