Job summary

We are recruiting to the post of Clinical Fellow -ST1-2) in Solid tumour oncology to commence as soon as possible.

The post will run for 3 months in the first instance with the possibility of extension. The post is available from 1st December 2022.

This post is based in the recently re-built state-of-the-art facilities at the Barts Cancer Centre at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in the City of London, rated overall as 'Good' in a 2017 CQC inspection, with some 'Outstanding' areas.

The centre is a major tertiary referral centre for all forms of malignant disease in adults, providing cancer services to a population of more than one and a half million people in East London and the City. We specialise in the delivery of inpatient and outpatient chemotherapy, immunotherapy and high-dose therapies, and run a large clinical trials service.

The post would be suitable for experienced doctors who have completed Foundation and Core Medical competencies (or equivalent), and wish to gain a period of focussed experience and training in a medical specialty in which they are interested in pursuing ST3 training. They would be suitable for candidates who are attempting the second parts of the MRCP (see section 3 below). Less experienced candidates will certainly be considered and are encouraged to apply.

Each post-holder will join the relevant Specialty firm currently staffed by one SpR and 2 FY1s. Duties will include:

  • Daily review of in-patients usually with the SpR and/or Consultant
  • Ward duties including practical procedures and MDT meetings
  • Support for the FY1s
  • Review of patients new admissions
  • Outpatient experience in oncology clinics.
  • Experience of relevant sub-specialty procedures
