Job summary

This is a new joint substantive consultant appointment between Mid & South Essex (MSE) NHS Foundation Trust and Barts Health (BH) NHS Trust HIV Services.

The Barts HIV Service is networked across the Royal London Hospital (RLH), Newham University and Stratford (Sir Ludwig Guttmann Centre), with an inpatient tertiary referral unit at RLH. We are the largest HIV Service in NE London providing care to over 5,000 patients.

Barts HIV network is part of the wider NE London and Essex HIV network (NELENET). Barts HIV service provides advanced HIV advice and guidance to NELENET and accepts inpatient referrals from NELENET to RLH.

The MSE HIV service is networked across Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford and Southend.

We are looking for an enthusiastic consultant to work cross-site between the Barts Health and MSE HIV Services. This is an excellent opportunity for the post holder to work across the NE London and Essex HIV Network, providing continuity in care as well as, developing skills in service development, leadership and opportunities in teaching and training in the speciality.

Main duties of the job

  • To contribute to the provision of comprehensive, sensitive and efficient HIV care
  • To contribute to specialist HIV clinical services which may include need-to-find service and hepatitis co-infection
  • To contribute to educational, service development and research activities in the department
