Consultant Paediatric and Perinatal Pathologist Full Time 10 PA
Applications are invited for one whole-time equivalent Consultant Paediatric and Perinatal Pathologist in the Department of Cellular Pathology of Barts Health NHS Trust. This replacement post provides a unique opportunity to further develop a dynamic team providing diagnostic pathology and perinatal post-mortem services for the children's, and women's divisions of Barts Health NHS Trust and perinatal services for allied east London hospitals.
Barts Health is one of largest NHS Trusts in England, and includes The Royal London Hospital, St Bartholomew's, Whipps Cross, Mile End and Newham University Hospitals. We house one of the largest Childrens hospitals in the UK and are one of two centres for the treatment of retinoblastoma, and also provide a tertiary referral centre for paediatric inflammatory bowel disease.
Main duties of the job
The Paediatric Pathology service is based at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. Cellular Pathology services are provided along specialist lines with the department providing a high quality integrated service. The department hosts a large complement of histopathology trainees including those specialising in paediatric and perinatal, and head & neck pathology. The successful applicant would be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and post-graduate training.
Applicants are required to hold full GMC registration with a licence to practice and to be on the Specialist Register of the GMC or be eligible to be on the Specialist Register within six months of the Advisory Appointments Committee.
This is a full-time post, however those interested in part-time work would also be considered and are encouraged to apply.

Essential
- Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- MBBS/MB ChB or equivalent
- FRCPath or evidence of equivalent qualification
- Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
- Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
