Job summary

Main duties of the job

We are currently seeking a motivated consultant to take up the position of Consultant Ophthalmologist; with sub-specialty interest in Medical Retina.

This is an important post within the department, and we are hoping to recruit an innovative and committed colleague who is keen to work with the wider team to develop the service at The Royal London Hospital.

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential

  • Professional Training in Ophthalmology: CCT (or equivalent), or within 6 months of a date, or entry on the Specialist Register of the GMC for Ophthalmology
  • MRCOphth or equivalent
  • Specialist Training: Broad experience in Medical retina
  • Fellowship in Medical retina

Experience

Essential

  • Wide experience in managing Diabetic eye disease and ARMD
  • Experience in Intra-vitreal Injections and Ophthalmic laser
  • Experience with general, acute and primary care ophthalmology

Desirable

  • Experience with high volume cataract surgery
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals in the field of Ophthalmology
  • Higher degree MD/PhD in Ophthalmology

  • Clinical Leadership: Clinical leadership - demonstrable skills in management
  • Teaching Skills: Record of teaching at under and post graduate levels
  • Evidence of multi-disciplinary teaching
