Job summary

We have vacancies on our Band 5 Physiotherapist rotation scheme for individuals who:

  • Hold a degree in Physiotherapy, or are completing their degree in the next 4 months
  • Have State Registration through the Health Care Professions Council, or will be applying for this after completing their studiesVacancies occur at various hospital sites within the Trust, including the Royal London Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, Newham University Hospital and St Bartholomew's Hospital. We have 3 different contract options that are on offer as vacancies occur. If offered an interview candidates will get a chance to express their preference of contract/s. The London allowance will be based on your rotation location - WXH and NUH attracting outer London with SBH and RLH attracting inner London allowance.

Main duties of the job

Through the trust education academy is a robust preceptorship programme is available for Band 5 AHPs which includes the Foundations of Leadership Management qualification and additional core skills training. In addition to this there is good senior/junior staff ratio, post graduate education, a structured in-service training programme, and a well-established supervision and appraisal system within teams. The departments have integrated therapy management with Band 7 and Band 8 physiotherapists offering excellent support.

To be an autonomous practitioner and be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of professional and clinical work.To be able to work independently with the freedom to take decisions about the patients management and discharge, but with the support of a senior physiotherapist available when appropriate for the management of complex patients, or if advice is necessary on workload and problem patients in a specialised unit. It would be expected that the physiotherapist would recognise their own limitations and activelyseek advice when necessary.To undertake assessments and treatments of patients effectively and efficiently using highly developed clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques in a wide variety of settings with a wide variety of patients and conditions.To use a high level of analytical skills developed with ones own experience andblearning, to assess, treat and produce a physiotherapy diagnosis, using informationbfrom the patient, carers, hospital notes, physical assessment techniques, visualn analysis and occasionally conflicting elements from different sources.To carry out effective treatment plans and interventions independently developed by self, based on knowledge of treatment skills such as manu electrotherapy, patient education and other alternative options, with support availablefrom a senior physiotherapist for complex or problem patients.Formulate prognosis and recommend best course of intervention, developing comprehensive discharge plans within a wide variety of settings and specialities, with support available from a senior physiotherapist for complex or problem patientsTo have the analytical skills, experience and knowledge to recognise other problemspresented by the patient.
