Whipps Cross Hospital
Two full-time Consultant posts in Critical Care and Anaesthesia have arisen, based at Whipps Cross Hospital in London.
The post holders will be employees of Barts Health and there may be future opportunities or requirements to work at one of the other hospitals in the Barts Health group.
Main duties of the job
The appointees will be required to participate in the on-call rota.
Critical Care comprises a 9 bedded unit which is currently being refurbished and an 8 bedded unit that opened in January 2017 following a £2.3 million pound refurbishment. There are around 800-900 admissions per year. This is an excellent opportunity for dynamic individuals with the appropriate skills to join a multi-disciplinary team providing a full range of services in a progressive London teaching hospital environment.

The Anaesthetic department offers a wide range of services: Preoperative assessment and perioperativecare, CPET, high dependency and intensive care for adults, elective and emergency operating inorthopaedics, general surgery, colorectal surgery, gynaecology, maxillo-facial and dental surgery, ENTsurgery, urology and ophthalmology, as well as acute and chronic pain management, regionalanaesthesia, obstetric analgesia and anaesthesia.The hospital has fifteen operating theatres, including three laminar flow theatres and two theatres in thematernity unit.Our original Critical Care Unit was founded by Dr Gillian Hanson, and Dr Bill Chew, in 1968. The CriticalCare Unit now comprises a 9 bedded Intensive Care Unit, a new, 8 bedded, High Dependency Unit,which opened in January 2017 following a £2.3 million pound refurbishment, and the Critical CareOutreach Team (CCOT).

- Appropriate evidence that the candidate is able to provide theatre anaesthesia at consultant level in a busy DGH setting

- Advanced training in Obstetric Anaesthesia and a subspecialty interest in Maternal Critical Care
