We are currently seeking a motivated ophthalmologist to take up the position of senior clinical Ophthalmology fellow for 12 months. This is an important post based at Whipps Cross University Hospital, and we are hoping to recruit an innovative and committed individual. Main duties of the job
The post-holder forms part of a team of 10 Consultants supported by an Associate Specialist (1), Clinical Fellows (6) and Specialist Trainees (4).
The post is a 12 month glaucoma fellowship that may be extended for up to 2 years. The post is based primarily at Whipps Cross University Hospital and provides the opportunity to work with the Glaucoma Consultants. The timetable includes a variety of complex glaucoma and cataract clinics and 2-3 theatre sessions. An interest in research is important as the unit has a rapidly developing research unit.
There is a 1:8 first on-call commitment and busy eye casualty sessions.

The Eye Treatment Centre (June 2005) is a dedicated facility for the delivery of ophthalmology services under one roof. It accommodates ophthalmic outpatients, a day surgery suite with twin operating theatres and integrated orthoptic and optometric services. There is a laser suite for YAG, SLT, Argon and Diode (micropulse) and multi spot laser, diagnostic facilities for FFA, ICG, SD OCT-A (Heidelberg Spectralis), corneal topography and Humphrey visual fields. Computers are available at every workstation in the outpatients department and Medisoft electronic patient records have been in use since June 2011. The diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and cataract modules of Medisoft are used exclusively for recording clinical episodes, procedures and investigations
