Job summary
The Department of Neurology at the Royal London Hospital is a vibrant and expanding department, embedded in the culturally diverse district of East London. An opportunity has arisen to employ a Locum Specialty Registrar (SpR) in Neurology, grade ST4 or above, to cover a period of academic leave of one of our substantive trainees. This would be a good opportunity for a junior doctor with an interest in neurology to gain further experience and training in a busy and established teaching hospital. The post of SpR is non-resident and is tenable for 12 months. There is the potential for less than full time employment, i.e. part time.
Main duties of the job
There are 6 Neurology SpRs, 1 Internal Medicine Stage 1 trainee, 2 Junior Clinical Fellows and 1 FY2 currently working in the department. There are opportunities for sub-speciality training in Neuro-inflammatory and Neuro-immunological disorders, Epilepsy, Neuromuscular Disorders, Movement Disorders, Headache and Stroke. In-patient and Home Videotelemetry services (the second such service in London) are provided in conjunction with Neurophysiology. There are opportunities to gain experience in all of these areas. The post holder will also be able to attend clinics and perform audit and research to gain further experience and develop their career.
