CONSULTANTS IN EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Based at WHIPPS CROSS UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

FULL TIME - 10 PROGRAMMED ACTIVITIES 7.5 DCC / 2.5 SPA

Main duties of the job

Whipps Cross site has its own dedicated leadership team, clinically and operationally, who are committed to represent the interests of the site and its staff and support the delivery of safe and compassionate care to our patients.

There are opportunities within the site for Emergency Medicine Consultants to develop special interests such as ultrasound, acute medicine, Education, Sepsis and resuscitation, Frailty and elderly care as well as critical care, leadership and Ambulatory Care. The Clinical Lead is keen to support the development of senior medical staff.

The jobs have been structured to ensure a variety of clinical duties are available. It is expected that the post-holder will work closely with colleagues from other specialities within the hospital & primary care.

Essential

  • Full GMC registration with a license to practise
  • MB ChB or equivalent
  • FRCEM or equivalent ('equivalence' must be confirmed by HEE/GMC) or entry onto the specialist register for emergency Medicine

Desirable

  • MRCP or equivalent additional higher qualification
  • Experience as a locum Consultant experience or acting up
  • MD / MSc

General Professional Training

Essential

  • Entry on the Specialist Register in Emergency Medicine, or that at time of interview the applicant can produce evidence that he/she is within six months of CCT date and is expected to achieve CCT
  • ALS, ATLS, APLS provider

Desirable

  • Instructor status in Advanced Life Support Courses,
  • MIMMS provider
