Main duties of the job

  • Providehigh standardsof cleanliness within the Neonatal Unit, including environmental cleaning as per schedules, audit compliance, and ensuring bed spaces are cleaned each shift and on patient discharge.

  • Ensure safe storage of equipment and consumables, restocking bed spaces as per the set-up guide.

  • Maintain safety and security for patients,staffand visitors, including the use of the patient security tagging system.

  • Maintain andmonitorthe use of resources to ensure continuous service delivery.

  • Assistin reducing healthcare-associated infections by adhering to Trust infection-prevention policies.

  • Support the achievement and maintenance ofhigh standardsof patient care.

  • Work within your own capabilities while supporting the multidisciplinary team and acting in the best interests of patients and families.

  • Provide support during procedures andassistwith admissions and discharges, including documentation, observations, and equipment preparation.

  • Prioritise your own workload effectively.

Essential

  • Maths and English qualification - GCSE A-D, or Grade 4-9, or Functional Skills Level 1
  • Care Certificate or ability to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
  • QCF/NVQ Level 2 in healthcare or equivalent qualification/relevant experience

Knowledge & Training

Essential

  • Ability to recognise limitations of knowledge and competence and practice within these boundaries
  • Prepared to undergo further training
  • Able to use and update IT systems with patient information
  • An understanding of their role within the team

Experience

Essential

  • Able to assess safety and wellbeing of others while and referring/escalating to other staff as appropriate
  • Regular contact with bodily fluids when carrying out interventions
  • Frequent moderate/intense effort required for periods of time
  • Experience in a healthcare environment
