Senior Occupational Health Nurse

Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Occupational Health Nurse to join our dynamic Occupational Health team. This role is pivotal in providing a comprehensive occupational health service to our employees, supporting their health and well-being in the workplace.

Main duties of the job

  • Conduct health assessments and screenings for employees, including pre-employment assessments and ongoing health surveillance.
  • Provide expert advice on occupational health-related issues, including risk assessments and workplace health initiatives.
  • Develop and implement health promotion programs to enhance employee well-being.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records and documentation.
  • Mentor and support junior staff within the team.

  • Experience of working within Occupational Health.
  • Phlebotomy Immunisation and vaccine administration
  • substantive experience of working with IT systems e.g., COHORT, OPAS, NOTIS
  • Demonstrate clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to always maintain confidentiality
  • Experience of communicating with various stakeholders, verbally and non-verbally
  • Deal sensitively with clients who may be distressed (e.g., due to stress or a medical redeployment situation)
  • Understand the importance of written procedures
  • Experience of producing written reports
  • Undertake occupational health assessments, assimilate the information, develop a plan of action, and translate into clear advice in written and verbal format.
  • Receive, interpret, and communicate specific, specialist information to clients and managers, (e.g., BBV pathology results, specialist reports, fitness to work, policy requirements
  • Ability to analyse and resolve patient problems and queries
  • Lead, plan and manage health surveillance programmes in line with appropriate regulations
