Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cardiac Assessment Unit. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated individual who is committed to delivering excellent patient care to join our small but friendly team.

The Cardiac Assessment Unit supports patients in their journey through the ED and the SDEC pathway. The successful candidate will work closely with the Cardiology Specialist Nurses, specialist registrars and consultants to deliver nursing care to patients presenting with a wide variety of cardiovascular symptoms. Working flexibly and autonomously at times, you will be a vital part of the team that provides diagnostic and therapeutic treatments.

Experience of working in an acute hospital setting, outstanding organisational and communication skills are essential together with the ability to perform ECGs, cannulation and venepuncture. Personal and professional development is important to our team and this will be facilitated by a structured local competency programme. In addition as you develop you will be supported to apply for the cardiac care modules

Main duties of the job

We are looking to appoint committed compassionate registered nurses with a keen interest in cardiac care and a desire to deliver a great patient experience.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities1. To manage a group of patients during a shift and achieve and maintain ahigh standard of nursing care2. To assess plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individuals ensuring a high standard of nursing practice at all times3. To undertake a nursing management round of a designated group ofpatients in order to assess and prioritise care.4. To communicate effectively with patients and visitors and ensure that their needs for information are met.5. To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and treatment and that they have sufficient information to do this.6. To perform diagnostic tests e.g. venepucture, ECG and BM samples asrequired and supervise others training to do these tests.7. To perform additional clinical roles relevant to the speciality and participate in the training, supervision and assessment of others learning these roles.

8. To have an in depth knowledge of the Nursing process and promote and support the use of the agreed model of individual patient care.9. To ensure that accurate nursing records are maintained for each patient
