Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Corporate Resilience Team providing a key role in supporting the development and implementation of the Health and Safety agenda across the organisation. Reporting directly to Head of Corporate Resilience you will support in delivering and promoting the Trusts Health and Safety portfolio in line with the national and legislative requirements.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be expected to engage with a wide range of staff including, but not limited to, clinical staff, executives, directors and their deputies, Directorate management, Matrons, Senior nurses, clinical directors, and communications teams, frequently both informally and formally and through oral and written mediums, the individual will also be a key communicator within the trust in relation to matters concerning Health and Safety.

The postholder will also communicate with a wide range of partners ensuring cross organisational working and planning, these organisations include but are not limited to, HSE, West Midlands Ambulance Service, ICB's, Local Authorities, Police, Fire Service, RCMT, other local Health providers, Public Health England and NHS England

Essential

  • 5-GCSE's (or equivalent) including English and Maths at grade 4 or above.
  • First degree or equivalent experience in a health and safety role.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation through attainment of NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.

Experience

  • Experience of working within a health and safety team/ function within an organisation, providing competent health and safety advice.

  • Be able to review incidents, highlighting where external reporting to the HSE is required, support with investigations and assimilation of evidence.
