Job summary
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Dermatology department, based at Corbett Hospital Stourbridge, for a Band 5 staff nurse part time (26 hrs) to fulfil a range of Dermatology skills.
We invite applications from registered nurses, with Dermatology experience and proven knowledge and competency in the provision, and delivery of Dermatology services. The post holder will have the ability to organise and manage their own caseload of Phototherapy patients and provide clinical care for dermatological conditions such as eczema psoriasis and Vitiligo.
Also to assist doctors with biopsy procedures and development to be able to perform basic punch biopsies.
The post holder will be responsible for following policies procedures and national guidelines for phototherapy/Iontophoresis and minor biopsies that is compliant with the clinical standards and guidance set by The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) (BAD 2016) and British Dermatology Nursing Guidelines (BDNG)
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, provision and implementation of Dermatological care to patients in accordance with their needs; including the delivery of specialist skills such as phototherapy, minor surgery, Iontophoresis and patch testing. They will be required to actively participate in the teaching and supervision of other nursing and non-nursing staff. The post holder will also be required to take a lead / link role for the nursing Dermatology department to be determined on appointment/appraisal.
The post holder may be required to take charge of the team in the absence of the lead nurse/ shift lead and to hold the emergency bleep for Corbett hospital.
