An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Administration Apprentice to join the Failsafe Ophthalmology & Optical Services team at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

This role involves supporting the Failsafe team in validating Ophthalmology patients who are overdue appointments or lost to follow up in the appointment system, book patient appointments dependant on the level of risk to their eyesight and undertake other administrative tasks as required. The post holder will take part in management and Governance meetings. Much of the work is computer based and involves using spreadsheets and manipulating data, so it is essential to have good IT skills and enjoy computer-based work.

Apprenticeship Programme details:

  • Apprenticeship Standard - Business Administration, Level 3.
  • AMSPAR Level 2 certificate in Medical Terminology.
  • Training provider will be Dudley College.
  • The programme will be on a fixed term contract for 18 months.
  • Salary will be paid at National Apprentice wage, £6.40 per hour with a yearly salary of £12, 514 for the first 12 months. For the final 6 months, this will change to minimum wage for age.

Eligibility

Candidates must have:

  • Maths and English - GCSE grade C or above, grade 4 to 9, or equivalent in Functional Skills at level 2.

Please Note: you will need to provide original certificates as proof of these qualifications.

Candidates who hold the following qualifications are not eligible:

  • A degree / degree level qualification or higher in Business Administration or similar related subject
  • NVQ/QCF / Apprenticeship Standard Level 3 or higher in Business Administration
  • AMSPAR Level 3 certificate in Medical Terminology
