ASSISTANT PRACTITIONER - BAND 4 (Annexe 21 will be applied during training)

The Breast Screening Service requires caring and motivated individuals who can work individually and as part of our multidisciplinary team.

We currently have funding for 1.0wte Trainee Mammography Associate/Assistant Practitioner posts, and are happy for people requiring either full or part-time work to apply. The successful applicant would need to study for a Mammography Associate Level 4 Certificate.

The Dudley, Wolverhampton and South West Staffordshire Breast Screening Service now include Cannock and the Seisdon Peninsula. There are three static sites, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Cannock, with mobile units covering the screening population. The candidates will be required to undertake mammography on all the mobile units on a rotational basis and also participate in assessment clinics for the service on completion of their training. All sites are fully digital.

Candidate must be able to commute in order to work at the different sites within the Breast Screening boundaries.

Main duties of the job

This is a training position, where the post holder will receive the relevant training to ensure they will be able to undertake the full duties and responsibilities of the band 4 role once qualified.

The post-holder will possess a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care (Mammography) or equivalent

The post-holder will perform basic mammography examinations in accordance with local protocols, and provide support to the breast services team. This will include clinical duties under the indirect supervision of specialist radiographic staff. The post holder will need the ability and confidence to exercise fine judgment in knowing when to refer to more senior staff. Additionally providing a support role to both specialist radiographers and consultant staff when undertaking complex invasive procedures. Administration duties will include film batch management, film processing, routine quality control testing of equipment and stockcontrol.
