Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor position in the Plastic Surgery department. The postholder will work closely with the Plastic Surgeons as well as working independently in outpatient clinics and theatres. The department is currently undergoing transformation which includes introduction of a Moh's Surgery service and Specialist Breast Reconstruction Unit within the Integrated Care System in The Black Country in the future. It is an exciting time to become a member of the team. The team also provide a sentinel lymph node biopsy service to patients in the Black Country who have been diagnosed with Melanoma skin cancer. We also provide paediatric surgical services for Hypospadias and vascular anomalies.
Main duties of the job
- The postholder will take part in the department's On-Call rota Monday - Friday 08:00am - 5:00pm
- Undertaking planned activities which will include independent biopsy lists.
- Independent follow up clinics for Plastic Surgery patients.
- Ward round for inpatients under Plastic Surgery or joint care.
- Post-operative care review and management.
- Participation in the Multidisciplinary skin cancer meeting.

- oCompleted at least 4 years full time postgraduate training (or it's equivalent if part time) at least 2 of which will be in a specialty training programme at a Registrar level in Plastic Surgery or shall have equivalent experience and competencies
- oUp-to-date knowledge of clinical issues related to Plastic Surgery
- oTeaching: evidence of interest and experience in teaching
- oAudit: evidence of active participation in audit.
Desirable
- Research Skills: evidence of relevant academic and research achievements (see notes).
