Job summary

  • Provide Medicines Management to emergency and acute medicine at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust (DGH)
  • Deliver quality care to patients at ward level as part of an efficient Medicines Management team. This includes confirming patient medication histories, assessment of patient's own medicines, non-stock transcription and one stop dispensing, counselling patients about their medicines and co-ordinating the supply of discharge medication. A primary function of the role will be to work as part of the Ward Services Medicines Management Team with responsibility as a Super user for the Trust wide medicine digital temperature monitoring system to meet regulatory requirements.

Main duties of the job

  • To work with the Pharmacy Technician for Medicines Management Digital Systems and Technology to manage ward based digital medicines storage solutions. To work with the various Trust departments e.g., Estates, IT and Nursing to resolve any issues arising with medicines storage.
  • To train and promote effective use of ward digital medicines systems. To support good working relationships with external and internal providers of the systems to ensure systems are used to their potential, provides value for money and prevent system failure. The technician will apply pharmaceutical knowledge to the use of the system and for best outcomes.

Essential

  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent AND BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy services
  • Pharmacy Medicines Optimisation Training Programme (PMOTP) - Unit 1, 2.1 & 2.2 - Manage Patient Medication or willing to work towards
  • ACPT qualification or willing to work towards

Knowledge and Training

  • Experience of the use of PMR (Patient Medical Records) or other electronic computer systems such as JAC, Proscript, Compass or alike.
  • Recent experience in either a community or Hospital pharmacy, evidenced by competency-based assessment.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office - Excel, Word etc to create documents and databases
